E-swish: Adjusting Activations to Different Network Depths

چکیده

Activation functions have a notorious impact on neural networks on both training and testing the models against the desired problem. Currently, the most used activation function is the Rectified Linear Unit (ReLU). This paper introduces a new and novel activation function, closely related with the new activation Swish = x ∗ sigmoid(x) (Ramachandran et al., 2017) [14] which generalizes it. We call the new activation E − swish = βx ∗ sigmoid(x). We show that E-swish outperforms many other well-known activations including both ReLU and Swish. For example, using E-swish provided 1.5% and 4.6% accuracy improvements on Cifar10 and Cifar100 respectively for the WRN 102 when compared to ReLU and 0.35% and 0.6% respectively when compared to Swish. The code to reproduce all our experiments can be found at https: //github.com/EricAlcaide/E-swish

Changes in Effective Connectivity Network Patterns in Drug Abusers, Treated With Different Methods

Introduction: Various treatment methods for drug abusers will result in different success rates. This is partly due to different neural assumptions and partly due to various rate of relapse in abusers because of different circumstances. Investigating the brain activation networks of treated subjects can reveal the hidden mechanisms of the therapeutic methods. Methods: We studied three groups o...

SWISH: Secure WiFi sharing

The fast increase of mobile Internet use motivates the need for WiFi sharing solutions, where a mobile user connects to the Internet via a nearby foreign network while its home network is far away. This situation creates security challenges which are only partially solved by existing solutions like VPNs. Such solutions neglect the security of the visited network, and private users or organizati...

A closer look at the apparent correlation of structural and functional connectivity in excitable neural networks

The relationship between the structural connectivity (SC) and functional connectivity (FC) of neural systems is a central focus in brain network science. It is an open question, however, how strongly the SC-FC relationship depends on specific topological features of brain networks or the models used for describing excitable dynamics. Using a basic model of discrete excitable units that follow a...

Investigating female mate choice for mechanical sounds in the male Greater Sage-Grouse

Although birds are generally known for their vocally produced songs and calls, some species have evolved alternate means of acoustic communication that do not require the syrinx. While many of these mechanical sounds are used in a courtship context, the importance of amongand within-individual variation in these sounds is almost entirely unknown. We investigated feather-produced sounds in male ...

Determining the importance of soil properties for clay dispersibility using artificial neural network and daptive neuro-fuzzy inference system

The main purpose of the current research is comparing the results of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) with regard to determination of the importance of soil properties affecting clay dispersibility. After taking samples from two depths of 0-40 and 40-80 cm, the spontaneous and mechanical dispersions of clay were recorded using both weighing and ...
